Our Client is a dedicated crane and man lift rental company founded in Dubai in 2006. It benefits from a rather unique lineage, as it sprung from the Joint Venture and partnership of a number of regional companies with a vested interest in plant machinery availability, specifically cranes. Faced with increasingly scarce supply of vital, high-end, construction equipment, 8 Middle Eastern companies, for whom construction activity constitutes a considerable portion of their portfolios, teamed up with the investment arms of two regional banks to create this company.
Due to increased demand our client are currently looking for:
A Senior Plant Engineer to be based in Qatar

Key Accountabilities

Act as the functional leader for Plant Maintenance (PM) in Qatar. Co-ordinate the work of subordinate staff and work effectively with order executives and departmental mangers to ensure effective completion of work and achievement of departmental objectives and targets

Develop, seek approval for and implement systems, standards, procedures and methodologies to facilitate the provision and operation of Plant services to the high standard of performance expected in the organization.

Manage mobilization for new Lease Contracts, including development of overall plan, the selection of key personnel and implementing established plant administrative and control systems, ensuring all activities are co-coordinated and that resources are effectively and efficiently deployed.

Co-coordinating the mobilization of Plant Maintenance (PM) resources for the main yard and the individual Lease Contracts, managing all Plant operations, setting up the Plant Maintenance (PM) infrastructure on site and monitoring Plant performance.

Monitor cost effectiveness of all Plant operations following consultation with subordinates, analyses information and makes recommendations / approves changes to achieve increased performance

Perform audits at Plant site operations to determine compliance with established Plant procedures and systems. Take corrective action and make recommendations when complex issues are involved / encountered.

Provide high level technical and administrative support to decentralized Satellite Servicing Yards and Lease Contracts to ensure infrastructure is in place to facilitate smooth operation and resolution of difficult or complex problems

Co-ordinate with company insurance department for full insurance claims coverage of all Plant to ensure protection and retention of company Plant asset value

Manage and co-ordinate the deployment & demobilization of Project Plant, spare parts and miscellaneous service equipment.

Recruit, motivate and develop staff (train staff) to ensure the function is staffed with individuals of the required calibre and that adequate succession planning and provision for future demand exists

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
B. Sc. Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 10 Years experience in the Plant Maintenance (PM) function, with at least 6-7 years of specific Cranes experience, with workshop/yard management experience

Managerial experience of at least 5 years standing.

High level technical expertise specifically mobile/rough terrain/all terrain. Electrical/Electronic, Hydraulics, Mechanics

Substantial budget and cost control experience.

High level planning and organizing skills.

Well developed organizational awareness.

High level of Safety awareness & risk prevention.

In-depth knowledge of Quality Control and ISO procedures.

Flexibility in interacting with colleagues.

High-level written and oral communication skills.

Decisive and capable of good judgement

Strong negotiating and influencing skills.

Profit orientation and cost conscientiousness.

Responsible for:
Co-coordinating the mobilization of plant.
Monitor application of procedures.
Set up Plant Maintenance (PM) site facilities.
Plan work programs. Prepare Plant studies.
Monitor Plant Maintenance (PM) operating costs.
Assist in providing data for cost studies.
Maintain links with other Areas and Lease Contracts clients
Provide technical advice.
